The Apollo 13 spaceship in the “Saarland” region!

The Apollo 13 spaceship was built for the film launch of the Hollywood blockbuster of the same name with Tom Hanks at the beginning of the 90’s and served for promotion purposes of the movie. It was already exhibited in 2011 to mark the 50th anniversary of manned spaceflight in various cities and has become an integral part of the Nohfelden Space Studio.

Every visitor can take a seat in the cockpit of the spaceship and feel the journey to the moon. Via headphones and cockpit monitor, the return flight to Earth is also displayed step by step.

The interior contains simulated electrical systems and an edutainment system. Outside are plastic control nozzles and a folding antenna system. The size of our Apollo 13 spaceship is 6.8 m x 2.6 m x 3.6 m and a total weight of 1.5 tons.

You may get on and “fly with us” 🙂

Boarding for space travel

Our Apollo spaceship is not just for “viewing”. You are welcome to touch it and get in! We explain to you what was so unique about this mission that it was even filmed in the movie “Apollo 13” with Tom Hanks.

We have prepared the following pictures for you :

Restoration of the Apollo 13 capsule

Many journeys sometimes are a problem for a spaceship. Fortunately, there were helping hands who restored the Apollo capsule. You can find out how this was done here:
